COVIDSafe: 4 Weeks In Video

Launched on ANZAC Day weekend, the COVIDSafe app was one of the fastest-downloaded apps in Australian history, but was also been the source of much controversy. In this panel, HMI Project Leader Professor Seth Lazar went through some of the key issues raised by the app—considering public health, privacy, and cybersecurity, as well as the politics of vesting authority to make major decisions about public health in unaccountable tech companies.

The guests were Dr Katharine Kemp (Law, UNSW), Dr Meru Sheel (Epidemiology, ANU), Associate Professor James Wood (Epidemiology, UNSW) and Associate Professor Vanessa Teague (Thinking CyberSecurity).
