Sarah Logan

Chief Investigator

Dr Sarah Logan is a Lecturer in the Department of International Relations. Her primary research focus is the impact of technology, especially the internet, on International Relations. She is particularly interested in the political economy of data and in how technology interacts with existing understandings of statehood, power and agency. Recent research projects include the expansion of Chinese search engines into South East Asia, online Chinese state disinformation practices in Australia, and the relationship between Western intelligence agencies and social media giants.  

Prior to joining the ANU in 2019, Sarah was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales. She was employed under the auspices of the Data to Decisions Cooperative Research Centre, where she worked on problems of information access and management experienced by Australian law enforcement and intelligence agencies.  Prior to joining academia, Sarah worked in foreign intelligence analysis for the Australian government and on a range of Australian parliamentary committees.
