Chris Dolman

Research Affiliate

Chris works within the insurance sector at Insurance Australia Group (IAG). His role of Director, Data and Algorithmic Ethics was established to focus on the practical application of AI ethics within industry. This aims to provide ethics frameworks, reviews and guidance for IAG’s cutting-edge data and AI projects. As part of this role Chris is involved in various research collaborations. His main research interest is in the development of practical standards and guidance for industry application, and in developing effective regulation for this area.

Prior to this, Chris spent several years helping to establish IAG’s modernised data and analytics function. Chris has also held various senior leadership positions across the company, with responsibilities including product management and pricing, regulatory engagement, actuarial, finance, reinsurance, risk and capital.

Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and an active member of both the Data Analytics and General Insurance practice committees, frequently publishing articles on data ethics and helping to develop policy positions and professional guidance on this topic. He also holds a Masters of Mathematics (MMath) from the University of Warwick.
