Jenny Davis

Jenny L. Davis is an Associate Professor in the School of Sociology at ANU. Her work intersects technology studies and social psychology, focusing on inequality as it materializes in technological form. She is Past Chair of the Communication, Information Technologies, & Media Sociology section of the American Sociological Association, holds a DECRA Fellowship for the study of ethics in Australia's technology startup sector, is Founder and Co-Lead of the Role-Taking lab at ANU, and has work published in flagship journals from sociology, social psychology, and social technology studies. Her book, How Artifacts Afford: The Power and Politics of Everyday Things (MIT Press, 2020), provides a transferrable scaffold for the analysis and design of socio-technical systems.
