Dr Will Bateman is a senior lecturer at the ANU College of Law, Law School. His research on law and technology is focused on the impact of algorithmic decision-making and data-driven prediction on the effectiveness of existing legal frameworks governing public and private sector activity. Will collaborates closely with computer scientists developing ethical and lawful AI systems, and works with a variety of government agencies on the legal implications of automation and AI. He is currently working on a major project developing model legislation to protect essential human interests challenged by the use of AI by governments
