Alban Grastien and Sylvie Thiébaux attended the AI, Ethics and Society conference in New York on 7-8 February in New York City as a side event of the AAAI conference on AI. This event brought together academics from computer science, philosophy, sociology, NGOs, etc., and from around the world, to discuss issues pertaining to the perverse effects of Artificial Intelligence, and ways to mitigate them. The conference involved 4 keynote speakers (Peter Dabrock, Anita Gurumurthy, Charlton McIlwain, and Gina Neff), as well as over 30 speakers, and a number of poster presenters. The topics ranged from fairness in AI, explanation, ethics, future of work, value alignment, policy and governance, and the future of AI.
