Public online event, 6-7pm 10 September 2020 AEST

This event was organised by HMI affiliate Elija Perrier, convened by the Labor Science Network on behalf of the Chifley Research Centre.

COVID19 and climate policy debates have highlighted the centrality of science to policy responses. At the same time, we have also seen the role of science and expertise under challenge from rising populism and increasing conspiracy theories.

Understanding this challenge and responses to it are essential for advancing trust in science and evidence based policy.

Panelists:

  • Hon. Richard Marles MP – Deputy Labor Leader

  • Professor Ian Chubb – former Chief Scientist of Australia

  • Annabel Bligh - Business and Economy editor at The Conversation UK. Host of The Anthill podcast.
